Overview: Directors gathered for the first face-to-face meeting of the Medicaid Medical Directors Learning Network in Chicago, IL. As the initial gathering of the Learning Network, the kick-off workshop sought to provide an opportunity for medical directors to meet and learn about each other, to discuss the use of evidence in coverage decision-making, utilizing a State case example and reviewing the evidence on bariatric surgery, to discuss strategies for improving the quality of heath care services used by Medicaid enrollees, and to identify possible topics and approaches for future learning network activities.
National Quality Measures Clearinghouse (NQMC): NQMC is a database and website for information on specific evidence-based healthcare quality measures and measure sets.
Medstat, under contract with CMS. Ten State Medicaid Core Performance Measure Reporting Summary: Highlighting Model Practices. December 12, 2005. Medstat identified ten States with leading quality measurement activities and gathered publicly available information on these quality programs from these ten States and produced the following report. The goal of the report is to provide a profile of the public quality measurement/performance reporting efforts of the ten States, make overall observations, and identify implications for future quality measurement/improvement.

CMS Quality Initiative: The Quality Initiative was launched nationally in 2002 with the Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI), and then expanded in 2003 with the Home Health Quality Initiative (HHQI) and the Hospital Quality Initiative (HQI). In 2004 the Physician Focused Quality Initiative was developed, this includes the Doctor’s Office Quality (DOQ) Project.
